news page

hi
I am trying to set up my basic News page, i remember while ago in drupal 5 i had no problems bu now in drupal 6
i cannot manage to get my news page like i would like to have

obviously some of the thing i can do when i create the theme but i canno make the 'read more' link and the 'comments(0)' and author,

read more should autmaticly appear when i set up the teaser but it don;t

pls help
